Marina Vingiani

Holding a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II, I pursued an MSc in Marine Biology from the University of Bologna, Italy.
I am currently a PhD student co-funded by Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and the Institute of Marine Sciences of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-ISMAR).
My research and interests focus on marine biodiversity, particularly on benthic systems. With a background in molecular ecology, my work aims to refine environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis pipelines by improving some underlying metabarcoding approaches to support reliable marine ecological assessments. Contextually, I am collecting both new molecular data and biodiversity records across a range of marine habitats and management contexts, including protected and unprotected areas, to identify vulnerable species and fragile environments that may require conservation measures.
Project Title
Advancing the integration of eDNA data in marine spatial planning for the adaptive management of marine biodiversity.
