Extraction and exploitation of bioactive fish components for health enhancement

This is 42 month project (2018-2022) is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) and is conducted in collaboration with University of Limerick, University College Cork and Ulster University. The main objective is to develop reproducible scalable protocols for the generation of high quality prototype blue whiting (BW) biofunctional peptide ingredients with appetite modulating activity. The specific objectives of the workpackage led by GMIT are to evaluate consumer attitudes/awareness of marine derived functional ingredients. And formulate a food product incorporating a BWPH.
