Bakhtawar Maqsood

Research Assistant

Miss Bakhtawar Maqsood is currently working as a Research Assistant at MFRC, Atlantic Technological University Galway, where she is involved in the development of a rapid diagnostic device for the detection and quantification of viral and bacterial pathogens affecting the aquaculture industry. She completed her M.Phil. in Physics and M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Balochistan, Pakistan. In addition, she completed a one-year course in Medical Devices from Bolan Medical College, Quetta, and a three-month internship in Clinical Engineering and Medical Devices at the Kidney Center, Quetta.

Her M.Phil. research focused on the design and fabrication of a conductive polymer strain sensor based on gold nanoparticles deposited on a flexible substrate, while her master’s research investigated a nanoparticle based mini dialyzer for haemodialysis, including the fabrication and characterization of AAO membranes. Her broader research background includes expertise in sensors, microfabrication, polymer science, nanotechnology, flexible sensor development, nanoparticle-based fabrication, and teaching in physics-related disciplines. She has also been associated as a member of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and the Pakistan Science Foundation.
