I hold a BSc (Hons) in Applied Freshwater and Marine Biology from Atlantic Technological University, which I completed in 2023. My passion for parasitology was ignited during my undergraduate research project, where I investigated the diversity and intensity of parasites in stranded seabirds across Ireland. This experience solidified my interest in studying host-parasite dynamics within aquatic ecosystems.
Currently, I am pursuing an MSc by research as part of the Biodiversa+ IMPACT project. My work focuses on conducting parasitological examinations of freshwater fish from Lough Corrib to assess parasite diversity and intensity. This research aims to provide updated insights into the parasite communities within Lough Corrib fish populations, allowing comparisons with historical data and informing future ecological trends.
My primary research interests include parasitology—particularly helminth parasites—aquatic ecology, and conservation. I am passionate about advancing our understanding of parasite biodiversity and its role in maintaining ecological balance within aquatic environments.
